As a small child, I remember seeing on television the mermaids from Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida. Watching their show was like living a fairy tale — a rare blend of magic, history, and aquatic artistry that feels both whimsical and deeply special. I gathered my inspiration for this piece from the memory of them. If you look closely at my composition, you'll see the harmony between the fish and the mermaid as she feeds one fish out of her right hand; she reaches out a finger of her left hand to touch a fish on its nose.
