A Boat-tailed Grackle shimmers against the blue sky of a daytime summer moon. A local photographer captured this bird on a light pole with the moon in the hot summer sky. I simply had to paint it. I used mica pigments to capture the bird's natural luminescence and added a shimmery moon in silver leaf.
