This piece was inspired by the fleeting landscape of an approaching storm—a moment when the shoreline is constantly shifting and being reshaped by wind, water, and weather. Natural materials and movement come together to create a tactile reflection of the ever-changing Carolina coast. Driftwood gathered from the shoreline of Carolina Beach forms the natural foundation of this wall hanging. Hand-dyed cotton cord hangs freely from the wood in soft, shifting tones and varying lengths, inspired by sand drifting across the shoreline. The natural movement of the fibers create layers that echo the patterns formed when strong coastal winds lift and carry sand across the beach.
