This stoneware platter was inspired by my many beach walks. I found a dead crab on the sand, brought it home and made a clay mold from it. I made a reproduction of the Topsail Island crab and added it to this platter along with the imprint of a fishing net. The crab now lives on forever, as its image has adorned many bowls, platters and vessels.

Where the Soul Meets the Sea opens October 3. Purchased artwork remains in the exhibition through November 7 unless released earlier with curator approval.
